On March 22, 2014, Ashley Cartagena was the victim of gun violence in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was shot and hit over 20 times, taking bullets to the face, arm, and both of her legs. She has endured over 10 surgeries, and has sustained life altering injuries as a result of the attack. Ashley inspired the creation of Sol Sister.
